PASSIVHAUS

CEBRIÀ Arquitectura is a young architecture studio, based in Barcelona and Lleida, specialising in sustainable construction and passive buildings, with a minimal energy demand to achieve comfortable, healthy homes. In addition, we have been Passivhaus designers since 2020, certified by the International Passive House Association (iPHA).

The objective of the Passivhaus standard, originally from Germany, is to have buildings with high energy efficiency. It has over 30 years of experience with monitored and verified results. The main objective of the Passivhaus standard is to achieve the minimum possible energy demand while ensuring high comfort inside your home.

This standard is aligned with the fight against climate change via a drastic reduction in energy consumption in the housing stock usage phase, both for new constructions and refurbishments.

The advantages of building your home with the Passivhaus standard are related mainly to its 6 basic concepts.

⬇️ WHAT ARE THE PASSIVHAUS PRINCIPLES? ⬇️

1. BIOCLIMATIC DESIGN

Each project is unique and from the beginning we work with bioclimatic concepts to obtain the best results in the design of your home, taking into account factors such as orientation, natural ventilation, building compactness, solar protection and thermal inertia.

2. THERMAL INSULATION

Thermal insulation helps protect the interior of the building from the outside climate. A well-insulated home entails energy savings when air conditioning internal areas while at the same time helping to increase the comfort and interior quality of your home.

3. VENTILATION WITH HEAT RECOVERY

The controlled ventilation system that we install ensures your home has a constant renewal of the air inside all the rooms, guaranteeing its quality and using filters to remove all unwanted particles that may be inside or outside.

4. AIRTIGHTNESS

The airtightness of the house is one of the most important points that guarantees the thermal comfort of the interior and prevents the entry of drafts. The housing envelope (facades, roof and contact with the ground) must be as tight as possible to prevent unwanted air leaks.

5. LACK OF THERMAL BRIDGES

Thermal bridges are those parts of the construction of a house where thermal losses can occur due to a uniformity of the enclosure and its materials; thus facilitating the entry of cold in the winter and heat in the summer. By taking care of the design and construction of your home, you can eliminate thermal bridges.

6. HIGH PERFORMANCE ENCLOSURES

The enclosures openings (doors and windows) must be strategically designed in the architectural project, in addition to having a high technical performance, such as the inclusion of triple glazing and chambers with low-emission gases, as well as insulating frames and profiles.
